Modern Wing Interactive

As part of re-thinking the new modern wing, I thought it would be great to have touch screen computers for the public to use to interact with the museum, as well providing the public with free internet access and wi-fi, as a way to promote the modern wing and provide the public with a standard for internet access.

In my opinion the types of technology that are readily available to the general visitor are not enough because technology has advance in ways not possible when the wing was designed 15 years ago. Considering the accessibility and usability for the public currently, I think the museum could update the interface with huge touch screen computers as a way for the public to interact with getting tickets and talking to customer service about issues. The whole idea is to create the planning of a trip around the visitor's self driven route while in the space.

I also think that the current lay out of the space is just fine, but can be use to support more local artist work on the screens and monitors already in place. Maybe add a few more monitors in tucked away corners as a way to highlight those spaces.

  1. you mention free internet and wi-fi, but i'm curious about how you see that type of access being regulated, and whether that fits within the museum's mission. remember that with cultural institutions, any program should always be geared towards fulfilling the mission.

i do like the idea of more touchscreens to interact with the museum. maybe an online chat with a curator on call? i like the mock-up. nice job.
